At Saintly Roast Coffee Co., our mission has always been simple: To be a coffee company that cares as much as you do.
That care goes beyond the cup. It shows up in how we choose to serve, who we partner with, and how every purchase can quietly make a real difference in the lives of others.
With deep gratitude and genuine excitement, we are honored to announce Catholic Outreach Ministries (COM) as our first nonprofit partner for 2026. From January through March, $1 from every bag of tea and coffee sold will be donated directly to COM, supporting their extraordinary work right here in our community.
This partnership is rooted in the words of Christ Himself:
“Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40
COM doesn’t just quote this verse. They live it.
Who Is Catholic Outreach Ministries?
Catholic Outreach Ministries (COM) is based in Newark, Ohio at St. Francis DeSales Parish and is led by Director Heather Stasel, whose heart for service radiates through every ministry COM touches.
COM’s mission is clear and deeply human:
“Sharing the blessings of faith through assistance & actively alleviating human suffering through outreach programs.”
In practical terms, that mission looks like meeting people exactly where they are — with compassion, dignity, and the love of Jesus Christ.
Their Impact in 2025: Compassion in Action
When Heather shared COM’s 2025 year-end recap, what stood out wasn’t just the scale of the work — it was the consistency of it. Week after week, phone calls were answered. Conversations were held. Needs were met quietly, often before situations became crises.
Much of COM’s work begins with a simple phone call. Volunteer operators listen to families who are struggling — a utility bill they can’t cover, rent that’s coming due, a child who doesn’t have a bed of their own. In 2025 alone, those calls led to nearly $90,000 in direct assistance, helping 447 families stay housed, keep their lights on, and provide basic stability for their families. For some children, it meant something as fundamental — and as dignifying — as having a bed to sleep in.
But COM’s presence doesn’t stop at financial assistance. It extends outward, into the streets and shelters, into parish halls and retreat centers, and into moments where people simply need to be seen.
Every other month, volunteers — joined by Newark Catholic sophomores during their annual retreat — prepare peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for neighbors experiencing homelessness. In 2025, 960 sandwiches were handed out, each one accompanied by a smile and often a conversation. Alongside that effort, more than 1,200 blessing bags were assembled and distributed, filled with snacks, hygiene items, and small religious articles — practical care paired with a reminder of dignity and hope.
Sometimes that encounter happens face-to-face through COM’s Golf Cart Ministry, where volunteers meet people where they are. Water is offered. A sandwich is shared. Prayer is offered when welcomed. No agenda — just presence.
COM is also deeply committed to walking alongside life in its most vulnerable moments. Through the Walking with Moms ministry, pregnant women, single mothers, and even struggling fathers receive spiritual, emotional, and practical support as they choose life — knowing they are not alone. Through the Milk Ministry, COM ensures that the men at the St. Vincent de Paul Haven receive milk for an entire year, meeting a simple but essential daily need.
That same respect for human dignity flows through COM’s Respect Life Ministry, which upholds the sanctity of life from conception to natural death through prayer, education, and advocacy — including ongoing preparation for the 2026 March for Life.
Some of COM’s most tender work happens quietly, behind the scenes. Volunteers with the Turban Project lovingly create custom turbans for individuals facing alopecia. These handmade gifts are sent across the country and around the world, offering comfort, confidence, and a tangible reminder that someone cares. Through support of the Mary Elizabeth Foundation, COM assists the Sisters of Nazareth in sustaining their retreat center and Catholic school — vital sources of formation and income. And each Advent, the Giving Tree ensures that more than 100 local children - often around 130 each year - experience the joy of Christmas morning through the generosity of parish families.
Each ministry looks different on the surface. Together, they form a single story — one of consistent presence, thoughtful care, and faith lived out in ordinary, powerful ways.
Looking Ahead: Hope for 2026 and Beyond
When we spend time talking with the team at Catholic Outreach Ministries, one thing becomes clear very quickly — they’re never standing still. Their work is rooted firmly in today’s needs, but their eyes are always looking ahead, asking where help will be needed next and how they can be ready to respond.
In the year ahead, COM is continuing to strengthen partnerships with organizations like Catholic Social Services, expanding support for shut-ins and families facing difficult, life-changing decisions. They’re also preparing to host a Human and Sexual Trafficking Summit here in Licking County — a sobering but necessary step as this crisis continues to grow closer to home.
Even the behind-the-scenes work reflects that same care and intentionality. COM is establishing a new on-site storage garage that will save nearly $10,000 each year — funds that can be redirected straight back into serving neighbors in need.
It’s the kind of growth we admire most: thoughtful stewardship paired with the courage to step into hard places for the sake of others.
Why This Partnership Matters to Us
At Saintly Roast, we’ve always believed that social impact should feel personal. It shouldn’t feel distant or abstract — it should feel like caring for the people you pass in the grocery store, sit next to at church, or wave to on your street.
Catholic Outreach Ministries reflects exactly what we hoped for in a nonprofit partner. Their work is local and hands-on. Their faith shows up not in slogans, but in action. Every encounter is rooted in respect for human dignity, at every stage of life. And their care is quiet, relational, and deeply woven into the fabric of the community.
When you choose Saintly Roast this quarter, you’re not just buying coffee or tea. You’re helping keep a family housed. You’re helping a child stay warm. You’re helping a mother feel supported. You’re helping a neighbor feel seen.
How You Can Be Part of It
From January through March 2026, one dollar from every bag of coffee or tea sold will support Catholic Outreach Ministries. There’s nothing extra you need to do — simply enjoy the coffee and tea you already love, and the impact happens naturally.
And if you feel called to go a step further, COM is always welcoming volunteers, prayer partners, and supporters. Whether it’s answering outreach calls, helping with specific ministries, or offering financial support, there are many ways to walk alongside their mission. We encourage you to visit their website to learn more and discover how you can support this vital work within our community.
Thank You for Caring
We are deeply grateful to Catholic Outreach Ministries for their trust, their witness, and their tireless service.
And we are grateful to you — our customers — for choosing a brand that believes what matters should show up in real ways.
Together, cup by cup, we are making a small choice that has a big impact.
Saintly Roast: Coffee that cares as much as you do.
